Quick Repair to Hurricane Damaged Oil Platform
An offshore oil platform in the Gulf of Mexico was damaged by a hurricane in the region. Since this was a working platform, repairs needed to be made quickly with a minimum of interruption and without any safety issues. The engineer called upon LNA Solutions to assist in the design of the pipe supports for new pipe runs that were being installed on this platform. It was decided that the new pipe supports should be installed to the existing steelwork without drilling or welding. By using the LNA Solutions System and not drilling or welding, the engineer solved two big issues. One, production could continue and two, there would not be any safety issues related to the spark producing methods of welding or drilling.
A High Friction clamp was chosen because of its guaranteed high tensile and frictional capacities. By utilizing the high friction clamp with pre-fabricated brackets, the supports were installed in a minimum amount of time with the least amount of interruption and most importantly without fire hazard.
