Girder clamps are used to attach temporary bridge column supports to allow repair of the existing concrete bridge columns. A self adjusting clamp was specified and installed by DeFoe Corp., NY. The Girder Clamp Assembly was used to make the connections mainly to avoid having to drill or weld to the primary bridge beams, thus preserving the structural integrity of the W beams. These connections were designed to very specific load requirements including friction and vibration.
