Floating Production Storage and Offloading Unit (FPSO)

A floating production storage and offloading unit (FPSO) was being fitted with some new pipelines. The pipe supports for the new lines needed to be installed quickly and easily without the safety concerns associated with drilling or welding. The engineer called upon LNA Solutions to assist in the design of the connections for the pipe supports that were being installed on the FPSO. By utilizing the LNA Solutions System to connect the supports to the existing steel they eliminated the fire hazard issue. The components were installed with standard tools and sockets thus relieving the concern of sparks associated with drilling or welding. Also there was no need for special precautions such as curtains or welding habitats. This resulted in an extremely cost effective connection.

A High Friction clamp was chosen because of its guaranteed high tensile and frictional capacities. By utilizing the high friction clamp with pre-fabricated brackets, the supports were installed in a minimum amount of time with the least amount of interruption and most importantly without fire hazard. The end result was a guaranteed structural connection that saved time and money but kept safety a priority.
